especially unto them who are of the household of faith. Gal. 6:10 |
Here at Apostolic Ministries of America we do firmly believe that true Christians and in particular the Apostolics are well aware of their obligations and commitments to the furtherance of the word of God to all parts of the world by those means most appropriate. And as true Christians while we commit to this futherance of the gospel we must also carry with it ACTS of GOODNESS according the the rightousness that is found in Jesus Christ. The objects of this duty to do good are more generally all men. We should not confine our charity and beneficence within too narrow bounds, as did the Jews and judaizing Christians, but should at all times be ready to extend it to all who partake of the same common nature with us, as far as we are capable and as they stand in need of us. But most of all, in the exercise of it, we are told by the Apostle to have a special regard to the household of faith, that is to those who profess the same common faith, and are members of the same body of Christ, with us. Though others are not to be excluded, yet those of the household of faith are to be preferred. The charity of Christians should always be extensive charity: but yet therein a particular respect is to be had for good people. God surely does good to all, but in an especial manner he is good to his own servants; and we must in doing good be followers of God as his dear children. The rule which we should observe in doing good to others is as we have opportunity, and that implies, that we should be sure to do it while we have opportunity, or while our life lasts, which is the only season wherein we are capable of doing good to our fellow servants and Christians. |
