Preached As It Was On The Day Of Pentecost WOODVILLE, MISSISSIPPI VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL Monday, July 16- Friday, July 20, 2007 6:00 p.m. Nightly THEME: Neighbors for Jesus Monday, July 16, 2007 - Love Thy Neighbor: The Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37) Lesson Goals: To teach who our neighbors are. Neighbors are not just people who live close by. A person is our neighbor by virtue of the loving way we treat them. To teach that Jesus said "Love your neighbor as yourself" is the second greatest commandment. Tuesday, July 17, 2007 - Glorify God: Jesus Shows Compassion (Matthew 15:29-38) Lesson Goals: To teach how Jesus relies on us to be kind and to show compassion to the sick, the hungry, the downtrodden, to those who have fallen on dire circumstance. To teach how Jesus set this example for us, and how we glorify God by our good works as neighbors to others. Wednesday, July 18, 2007 - Know the Power of Love and Faith: A Neighbor with Palsy (Mark 2:1-5) Lesson Goals: To teach that our compassion toward neighbors is powered by our love and faith in God. The love we show our neighbors shows our love for and our faith in Christ. To teach that by relying on Jesus, the power of love and faith can help us overcome many obstacles that may block our attempts to help our neighbors. When we demonstrate love toward our neighbors by our compassion during times when they need us, we follow Jesus' command to love our neighbors as ourselves. Thursday, July 19, 2007 - Be Neighbors for Jesus: The Woman at the Well (John 4:5-20) Lesson Goals: To teach that if we love our neighbors as we love ourselves, we will be as anxious as the Samaritan woman to lead them to Jesus! To teach that when neighbors walk together with Jesus, their love for one another grows stronger. To teach that we must be good to our neighbors and love them the way Jesus teaches. We must tell them about Jesus and our church families, and invite them to be a part of our family. Friday, July 20, 2007 - Teach Truth: Philip Teaches the Ethiopian (Acts 8:27-39 ) Lesson Goals: To teach the importance of being prepared to answer questions about God's Word. To teach the importance of sharing the gospel with people who know little or nothing about Jesus. To teach the importance of being prepared enough to help someone learn about Jesus through Bible study. To teach the importance of leading someone through the steps of salvation so they can understand what they need to do to be saved. These days the world is one very big neighborhood! We have neighbors close to home and around the world! We are to love Jesus with all our heart, with all our soul, and with all our strength, and to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. Since loving our neighbors is that important, let's all be Neighbors for Jesus! Elder Rodney Davis, Sr. Pastor |
